被医生宣告自己只有半年寿命的田渊公平（冈田准一 饰）决定在死之前要干一番惊天地泣鬼神的事业。于是他召集来高中因棒球结缘的一群好友，他们分别是最正常的中入太（樱井翔 饰）、不务正业的佐佐木兆（塚本高史 饰）、小酒馆的老板（佐藤隆太 饰）及胆小却有英雄梦的内山（冈田义德 饰）。五人决定组成一个怪盗团，命名为“木更津猫眼”。于是不靠谱的五人组开始了他们的怪盗生活，展开了一段段有趣、怪诞的故事，也阴差阳错成为了侠盗，无意间帮助了很多人。这个夏天注定不平凡，而公平的生命也正在一点点流逝之中…… 本剧切合棒球的九局制，以九集的形式播出，每一集也设置成上下局，是名编剧宫藤官九郎的代表作之一。Twenty-one year old former high school baseball player, Kohei (nickname: Bussan), learns that he is dying from cancer. He is told that he only has six months to live, and decides that he wants to do something daring and risky. He proposes to five trusted members from his former baseball club that they form a ring of cat burglars that would steal from those who commit crimes. His friends think it odd,but feel they cannot turn down a dying man's request. With only six months, how much could they do anyway?
