动画「魔法少女大战」原本是由御宅向情番组「2.5次元电视」制作的多媒体企划，曾在P站征集过一批魔法少女的人设，征集时要求以日本的各都道府县的当地风俗、名特产为原型，创作当地的魔法少女形象。因为日本有47个都道府，因此魔法少女也有47位。另外，除了动画「魔法少女大战」还将发售周边包，iOS平台的3D游戏等等Mahou Shoujo Taisen is a project created from a variety show for the Otaku "2.5 Chigen TV" (2.5 Dimension TV). The characters are the mahou shoujo that represent each local town in Japan. The characters that won from the second illustration competitions that were held on pixiv will appear in the anime.
